For those of you who've done it 2x, 3x, maybe even 4x. I know it might not be that big of a deal to you, but for those first-time homebuyers who've been dreaming about this forever who had to fight off all the naysayers, you know what I'm talking about. Those family members and friends said "you would never get it done", but now, YOU ARE A HOMEOWNER!!!
And in just a little while, everyone will know! Why do I say, everyone? Because the solar companies are going to know, the water softener companies are going to know, the alarm companies are going to know, you're going to be getting so much mail from these vendors. They are going to be sending it to you right away. Well, that's because now that you bought a home, you're in public records, and they're going to be trying to sell you something.
In about 6 to 8 weeks, you should be getting your title documents from your title company, and when you get those documents for the title company, you need to put them in a safe place and there is going to be your official deed along with your title documents.
Now, once you get that, now you can go and file a homestead exemption. It's very important to do that before February, file for your homestead before February if you fail to file homestead, it can increase your monthly payment by as much as $60 a month.
